Lukas Huber: From hobby to successful firewood entrepreneur

At the age of 37, Lukas Huber is at the helm of one of the leading firewood companies in the region between Zugspitze and the state capital of Munich.

While many of his peers pursued other interests at the age of 25, Huber decided to become self-employed after studying business administration. He founded a company that specialized in firewood production and trading.

Huber’s professional career is remarkable. While working, he deepened his knowledge by studying forestry, while already supplying his neighborhood with wood from his own forest. What once began as a hobby quickly developed into a serious business model. Today, ten years later, his company sells an impressive 4000 tons of firewood every year.

This success is due not least to Huber’s in-depth knowledge from his business studies, which stood him in good stead when founding the company. In collaboration with his bank, he was able to set up intelligent initial financing, supported by a solid business plan and encouraging growth figures of around 20 percent per year.
This year, Huber is celebrating the tenth anniversary of his company.

One highlight of this anniversary will be an in-house exhibition in September, at which a new Posch automatic firewood processor, the K700 mobile model, will be presented. Huber will be one of the first to put this new model into operation. Technical innovations play a major role in his business. He not only has a modern fleet of vehicles, but also his own timber drying plant, which is operated with a LASCO H250 hot-air oven.

This system enables him to react flexibly and quickly to market requirements and reduce the turnaround time between purchase and sale to less than 2 weeks in some cases. The result is perfectly dried wood that meets both his customers’ and his own high standards.

Huber has never regretted his decision to become self-employed. On the contrary: he is already planning to expand his business, build another production hall and hire additional support staff. Lukas Huber’s story is an impressive example of how passion, expertise and entrepreneurial spirit can go hand in hand to achieve lasting success.
