Wood drying with hot air: the Dosch family shows how it's done.

Anton and Michael Dosch from Gilching in Bavaria run their own firewood drying business.

The Dosch family, a farm with a history spanning four generations, cultivates a proud 80 hectares, consisting of 30 hectares of grassland and 50 hectares of arable land. Their commitment spans a variety of areas, from dairy farming to renewable energy production through an impressive photovoltaic system with a capacity of 500 kilowatts peak (kWp). But one of their most notable achievements lies in the production and sale of firewood.

The Dosch family’s firewood has built up a loyal customer base of around 350 people within a radius of 30 kilometers. These customers not only appreciate the excellent service, but above all the exceptional quality of the firewood, which is guaranteed by Anton and Michael Dosch with passion and expertise.

This quality is the result of an investment in an in-house wood drying system. At the heart of this drying facility is the LA 250 from LASCO – a wood chip hot air oven that produces hot air without any detour to water and therefore achieves particularly high blow-out temperatures.

With an annual running time of around 8000 hours, this technology enables a remarkably short turnaround time between the purchase of wood and its sale. As a result, the Dosch family is less susceptible to market fluctuations and can react flexibly to changes in demand.

The use of the LASCO wood chip kiln for drying firewood has not only made the Dosch family more independent, but has also made them a pioneer in efficiency and quality in the firewood industry.

Their story is an inspiring example of how innovation and tradition can successfully merge to run a sustainable agricultural business.

Anton and Michael supply around 350 firewood customers within a radius of 30 km.
