Field report from a hay professional: Thermal imaging camera for the hay crane

When high-tech meets craftsmanship, resulting in high hay quality and high operational reliability, LASCO is often involved. The Karch family’s Bschonhof farm in Wurmansquick, Bavaria, is a prime example of this.
For over a decade, the organic farm has been relying on the tried and tested LASCO hay drying system.
New in use: the innovative thermal imaging camera for the hay crane – and the results speak for themselves.Innovation on the crane tine: Thermal imaging camera in action Thermal imaging camera from LASCO detects temperature differences in the haystack in real time and delivers the data directly to the display – and can be retrofitted to all crane brands and cab types, regardless of the model. For Thomas Karch, this is a real revolution in everyday working life:
“We used to have to rely on experience and gut feeling. Now we can see exactly where the hay is not sufficiently aerated – and act immediately.”
Advantages of the thermal imaging camera at a glance:
-
Early detection of poorly ventilated or potentially problematic areas in the haystack
-
Uniform drying & targeted feeding thanks to precise temperature data
-
Time and cost savings during hay harvesting
-
Accelerated drying process thanks to optimized air circulation

The Karch farm: organic farming with technology at eye level
The Karch family’s Bschonhof farm is much more than just a traditional farm. They switched to organic farming back in 2008. Two years later, they invested in a modern hay drying system – a clear commitment to quality, animal health and sustainable production.
Today, the farm’s entire energy supply is covered by its own photovoltaic systems, a wind turbine and a wood chip heating system. This not only heats the hay drying facility, but also neighboring households – an impressive example of regional energy cycles.
Hay drying with vision
By using the LASCO thermal imaging camera, the Karch family has succeeded in further optimizing the quality of the hay – while at the same time increasing efficiency and safety. The visual inspection in real time helps to detect dangerous heat pockets at an early stage and to react in a targeted manner – before problems arise.
“Our cows get the best quality hay – and with the new technology we can meet this demand even better,” says Karch.
Convert now and benefit!
The thermal imaging camera from LASCO can be easily integrated into existing crane systems – regardless of brand or cabin design. This makes every hay drying system smarter, safer and more economical. Get all the information about the thermal imaging camera now.
